Summary by Kylara (E-mail)

A teenage girl is sitting at a desk, writing a letter in a book to a person named 'Meiko'. It basically dictates how she thinks something should be more interesting in her junior year of high school - like romance. From downstairs, a woman's voice calls out, "Miki! Aren't you going to eat your cake?" to which Miki answers, "Hai!" (Meaning "Yes")

Miki closes the book, neatly sliding it next to a little robot that records messages on the desk. Downstairs, Miki is sitting at tea and cake with her parents. They tell her that they want her to listen patiently and not be surprised. Smiling, her parents announce happily, "We're getting a divorce!" Miki freaks out - she certainly got her exciting event.

At the local high school, a pretty girl with brown hair is holding the little recording robot that was on Miki's desk. It plays, "PAPA AND MAMA ARE STUPID!" She sets it down next to the book Miki was writing in. Sitting across from her, eating angrily, is Miki, who states that her suspiscions started when she realized that they brought out the best tea set. They discuss the reasons - Miki's friend doesn't understand; weren't her parents just on a second honeymoon to Hawaii? Miki tells her friend what else happened - apparently, while on their trip to Hawaii, they met another Japanese couple called the Matsuura's - a couple their age, and completely compatible with them. During the vacation, Miki's mother fell in love with Mr. Matsuura, while Miki's father fell in love with Mrs. Matsuura. Then, the two couples discussed the situation, and decided to just do a swap of partners. Miki can't believe it! But her mother continues to say that they still love each other, just it's sibling love. While they discuss it to themselves ("Yes, and the idea of adultery is so unpleasant!"), Miki freaks out.

Back in the present, Miki just crushed her soda can. Meiko seems very amused and pleased with this turn of events, while Miki says that her parents have ALWAYS been weird, but this is beyond anything. Miki doesn't see how Meiko can by happy. Meiko explains that her parents don't love each other anymore, and are always arguing. [Note - she's not joking!] They won't get a divorce for financial reasons, and she just wishes they would, because it makes it so much more painful for her. Because of them, she never wants to get married - Miki thinks that's why she never goes out on dates (despite her being so popular), but Meiko says she likes men!

A guy in a high school uniform runs up to them, yelling "Miki!" Waving a tennis racket around, he tells her that they have to get going for practice. She calls him "Ginta", which is his first name. [Note - that means they're very good friends, because they call each other by their first names.] Miki explains that she can't go, and then whispers to Meiko that today, they're having a dinner with the Matsuura's, and surely if they're all together, she can get them to stop. Miki doesn't tell Ginta; in fact, she doesn't plan to tell anyone. She runs off, giving him a flimsy excuse. As she runs, she thinks to herself that she can't stand it; she's always put up with weird parents, and she gets this? She yells it out to herself, scaring the heck out of everyone around her as she runs.

At the resturant, her father introduces the Matsuura's to her. Miki thinks they're very normal looking, and asks them if they're really going to do this partner swap. They answer with a cheery yes, and Miki thinks that they really aren't normal... As they sit down at the dinner table, Miki's mother, Rumi, asks where "Yuu-kun" is. Miki obviously hasn't heard about this, and finds out that apparently, the Matsuura's have a son just Miki's age. Miki is pleased to hear this, thinking that their kid must be just as annoyed as her. Then, he makes his entrance..

He is very handsome! She can't believe this handsome guy is their son - the cute guy smiling at her. She gazes at him in her own little dream world for a while. Finally breaking out of it, she says that she just can't let this mess go on! Don't other people, like their relatives, have any objection to this? Jin, her father, replies no, they've all been doing whatever they wanted ever since they were kids, so they certainly didn't have any objectives now. Youji, Yuu's father, answered that they did the same thing! Miki tried everything, from 'what do you think other people will think?' to 'don't you care about Yuu-kun and mine feelings?' Yuu chose that exact moment to say, "I don't care." He thinks that as long as the people involved are happy, why should it make a difference? Miki is beyond weirded out by him now, and starts to cry, listing all of her parent's horrible qualities. She says that despite that, they're her only parents, and she doesn't want to be separated from either of them, ever!

Her parents say thank you, and that what she says is true. However, she shouldn't worry about it, because they're going to rent a house and have all six people live together! That way, they can all live together and have the parent-child relationships stay the same! The couples then break off appropriately (into the swapped state). Miki freaks out, but can't bear to stay selfish and ruin the happy mood. Yuu asks her subtly, "Give up?" Miki finally says she understands, and her parents (and the new couple) start to party.

[ Eyecatch - SD Miki, Yuu, and Ginta are rollerskating along when the first two people see the robot. Jumping over it neatly, Ginta trips and falls over, while Miki and Yuu pose. ]

[ Eyecatch #2 - is the same thing, but with a guy named Satoshi instead of Ginta.]

Miki narrates about how they really are going through all of this - now, they're moving into the same house. They're not married yet because a woman can't get married until six months have passed after the divorce. They're all good friends - well, at least the adults. Miki is holding a locket that slides open - in it is a picture of her and her parents. She slides it closed - and Yuu bops her on the head with his wallet, and tells her that they have to go shopping.

Outside, the two are walking along. He mentions that at dinner, she had a very threatening attitude, but gave up very fast. She tells him his rude attitude doesn't fit his pretty face, and he tells her she's very rude and just as ugly too! She thinks that there wasn't anything she could do, but she still is against it. He's blowing bubblegum. He thinks it's fun to double the size of your family, so how about they call a truce? And offers his hand to her. Miki begins to think that this isn't so bad... but when she opens her hand after she shakes his, she found his gum! He runs off laughing as she chases him.

At school, Meiko and Miki are walking together. Miki says that Meiko is the only one who knows; besides, at school, she can pretend it isn't happeni- smack! A boy's briefcase smacks her in the back of the head. Miki is horrified to see Yuu, who explains that he was too lazy to commute to his school in Yokohama, so he decided to just go to her elevator school so that he doesn't have to worry about an exam. Miki hadn't heard about this, because according to him, she would've told everyone.

Behind them, Meiko is joined by Ginta, who asks her who that is - an acquaintance of Miki's? [Note - I assume he meant romantically.] Meiko smiles and says that they look more like siblings, to Ginta's confusion. He then runs up ahead and asks her if they'll play tennis, and she says that she's been so mad lately, she'll be glad to play. Meanwhile, Meiko introduces herself to Yuu. He asks her (very casually) if Ginta is her boyfriend, but Meiko says they're not. However, they've had a very good relationship with each other ever since middle school. Yuu assumes that means they'll tell each other soon, but Meiko says no, Miki told Ginta she loved him in 8th grade, but he rejected her.

Miki finishes eating her box lunch with Meiko inside the classroom, and sighs. Yuu is surrounded by girls; Meiko says that he's been very popular with the girls from the first day. Later, Miki is showing Yuu around school, much against her will, when a teacher approaches them. Yuu calls him 'Namura-sensei', while Miki calls him 'Na-chan'. Namura hands Yuu papers that he needs for his transfer, and tells him that it must be very hard - if Yuu wants, talk to him anytime. After he leaves, Miki says that Na-chan is a very good teacher, and the tennis club supervisor. She asks Yuu what club he plans to join; as it turns out, he was in tennis club from middle school on. Horrified, she tells him not to join, and he tells her she's rude. He says that he actually doesn't plan to join any clubs, as he doesn't want anything taking up time. Miki doesn't know what he'd do, as you don't need to take an exam for university at her school. Looking out the window, he asks her what that building out there is. She tells him that the building is the school library, but it only has old books, so not many people use it. Meiko goes there for the literature club. Yuu seems fascinated by the library, and tells her that he'll cut fifth period and be back for sixth period physical education. Miki is beyond confused.

During p.e., she realizes Yuu really did come back. Watching him play basketball, she notices that he's very good. She blushes slightly while watching him - in fact, is so fascinated, she didn't even see the other basketball hit her right in the face. She faints, and wakes up again in the nurse's office. Meiko tells her she'll go and grab her school bag, and leaves behind the curtain. Miki hears the door open on the other side, and hears Yuu's voice ask Meiko how Miki is. Miki is horrified - she certainly doesn't want him to tease her now! [MOMENT starts to play.] She immediately decides to pretend to be asleep, so that if he sees her, he won't bug her. Yuu opens the curtain to reveal the sleeping Miki. As the wind blows, he just stands there, watching Miki 'sleep'. He then leans over and kisses her on the lips. (Approximately five seconds.) He stands there, still looking, and then thoughtfully puts his fingers to his mouth as if thinking. He finally walks out the door. Miki sits up, freaks out, thinking, "What was he up to now?"
