Anime Daa! Daa! Daa! Episode 1 Four people in the family all of a sudden Opening Heart with Wings Ending Boy Meets Girl Version watched Fansubbed by [Unknown] Summary by Kylara (E-mail) A young, blonde teenage girl is standing on a sidewalk, holding a large red suitcase and looking very depressed. Looking around at the street, she says to herself, "Why did I end up like this?" Switching scenes, you see a pretty woman with short, red hair standing next to a man with short brown hair. They're answering questions at a press conference. Behind them is a large sign with some writing on it and the word NASA in large letters. A news reporter addresses the woman as "Kozuki Miki," and asks her about how she feels about being selected for NASA's astronaut program. Clasping her hands together, she declares that she's very happy and it was her 'childhood dream,' and the background turns pink and dreamy behind her. Another reporter asks her that isn't Miki's husband, Kozuki Yuu, going with her to NASA? Yuu answers that it was his own 'childhood dream' to build a next generation spaceship, and has a scene similar to Miki's as he talks about his dream. Off to the wings, the teenage girl from earlier is clapping happily. Smiling at the reporters, the couple flashes victory signs with their hands and say in unision that they'll now go to America together! The girl freaks.
Somewhere else, Miki is stirring her drink while the tv behind her is playing the press conference. She tells her daughter, Miyu, that she's now an national star, and that all of Japan is counting on her - no, everyone in the world is! That's why she's going to concentrate on training to be an astronaut, and Yuu will build a spaceship that's safe for her, Miki to travel in! Doesn't Miyu understand? Across the table, Miyu says that is not it; aren't they the least bit worried about leaving her all alone in Japan? Yuu replies that he'd be more worried if he left her alone in an unfamiliar country. They'd be too busy to take care of her anyway. Here in Japan, they'd arranged care for her already. (A commercial plays on the tv now.) Miyu is very confused, while Yuu explains that it's Miki's friend, Saionji's house. As Miki turns off the tv (saying it's too loud), she talks about the 'wonderful house' on the hill, and that it's the best house in town! Miyu freaks, saying, "How can you decide this without me!?" Outside of the house, a plane flies away, with a bubble popping out of it with Miki and Yuu's heads saying, "Take care!"
[ Title - Four people in the family all of a sudden. ]
Back on the road, Miyu is walking along, reading the directions. She thinks about how it's supposed to be a fantastic house with a great view, and envisions a grand mansion with so many rooms, she could get lost. She imagines herself living like a princess. She says that she found it, the stone stairway that was on the directions. It looks like the steps leading to a shrine! Looking at the directions again, she realizes this has to be it. Running up to the top of the stairs, she looks at the very traditional Japanese shrine. Running in, she drops her bag, and then falls to her knees. She says, "I have been deceived..." and gloom hangs over her head. A few meters away, an old man (much older than her parents) is sweeping the floor, and asks himself what that could be. (In all her gloom, Miyu doesn't look human.)
You hear the old man's voice saying that she finally made it! (A little .. angel/cupid/something is flying over the roof.) He asks her if she remembers coming over and playing when she was a toddler. He shows her the room she is going to have, and drops her bag, saying that it was very heavy. Saionji says that she must be tired from traveling, so why doesn't she take a bath? He leaves and closes the door, and she thinks to herself she might just do that - he seems like a very nice man.
In the bathroom, Miyu is relaxing and taking a bath. Her long hair is pinned up on her head. She thinks to herself that living like a rich princess probably was too much to hope for. She says out loud to herself that she hopes she didn't end up in some weird place! Oh, well; it probably shouldn't be too bad. To explain the setup of the bathroom - Miyu is in a large bathtub filled with hot water in the farthest corner from the door - it's not portable. There are no faucets leading to it, but next to it is one built into the wall. Underneath the faucet, to evidently catch the water, is a large plastic container. Now, Miyu leans over and turns on the hot water, watching it fill the container. She says that it'll take some time to heat up. While she watches it, you hear running steps and a boy's voice say, "I'm home! Is the bathroom empty?" and suddenly, the sliding doors to the bathroom open. (Evidently, no locks.) There is a boy about her age with brown hair, standing there disbelievingly. They look at each other for a few seconds. Miyu finally turns red, picks up the tub of water, and screams, "PERVERT!" and hurls it at the door, just as he closes it. Outside the bathroom, the boy is slightly red, and says to himself, "What was that just now? DAD!" and runs off. Miyu is considerably red, flushed, and annoyed inside the bathroom, thinking to herself that it was a typical storyline from a manga/anime, but... but... why does she have to end up like this? "I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!" she shrieks.
Miyu is now dressed, and very angry (three of those little angry marks on her had). The boy is across the table from her, looking a bit defensive and grouchy. Saionji is smiling very sheepishly and explains this is his only son, Kanata, and that he was raised with no women in the family, so he doesn't have a delicate side. Saionji demands for Kanata to greet her, who exclaims, "I never heard about this before!" Standing up, he says, "You never tell me this stuff before hand! It'll be awkward to live with this girl!" [Note: Sounds like how Miyu's parents act.] At that, Miyu glares, and stands up, and says, "Wait a minute! What's with "this girl"? You enjoyed looking at my naked body!" Kanata (he has an angry thing on his head too) retorts that he wasn't happy about that, while Miyu replies OH, that was clearly a crime! Kanata yells back that like he said, he's never peeped at anyone before, and she says that HE probably thought he got lucky. In the background, Saionji looks rather disturbed. Kanata says he's still pissed off, while Miyu says SHE'S pissed off. Saionji finally intervenes, and says for Miyu-san not to worry, he'll make sure this doesn't happen again. Kanata looks smug, and crosses his arms over his chest and says this means his dad is obviously giving up the training trip to India? Saionji replies that even if he wanted to go, he doesn't have permission from the "daisojo" [great monk], so he gave up. In his own cloud of gloom, he says that he always wanted to go there before he died, but that Ken-san was supposed to call him last week, so he supposes he can't go.
The phone rings. Saionji looks at the phone desperately, grabs it, and starts talking. Although you can't hear the other man's conversation, Saionji replies like this: "Hello, Saionji residence. Oh, Ken-san? What, I was approved? Ok, I'll pack up now. Bye!" Miyu and Kanata start glaring at him as soon as they hear "I was approved?" Carefully, Saionji creeps away from the phone. Miyu and Kanata arm themselves with a soup ladle and rope, and they start chasing him. They carefully head him off, and tell him they can't go. Saionji pleads with Miyu, saying that this is his 'childhood dream' and his 'one last wish'. Miyu thinks that this pattern is awfully familiar... and she remembers her parents saying the same thing. She starts screaming.
She and Kanata are now eating dinner alone. Miyu is thinking about what she's going to do now. She also realizes that this is the first time she's eaten alone with a guy! Kanata gets up from the table and asks her if she wants more miso soup, and she says no. As he gets more soup for himself, he apologizes for his dad, saying that he's very selfish and decide everything by themselves. She says her parents are like that too. Kanata then says he didn't do the bathroom thing on purpose, and she says she shouldn't have overreacted like that, either. After staring at their food for a few seconds, Miyu says thank you for the food.
Miyu is in her futon, trying to sleep. She thinks to herself that she doesn't want to stay here alone with this guy, and that she should find a new place to live. She freaks out a little, thinking she even bought a new school uniform. Miyu decides to call her mom in the morning, but realizes that it's already morning in America.
Walking down the hallway, she opens one of the sliding doors, saying that she wants to make a call. Kanata is getting undressed, and Miyu sees this and screams. He says that HE'S the one who got peeped [so why is she screaming], and she asks him why he's changing his clothes, the PERVERT! Kanata throws his shirt at her head, and says that there's nothing wrong with changing into pajamas, and don't come in until he says for her to! That's why he doesn't like living with a girl! She throws his shirt back at him, and says FINE.
At the door, Miyu is putting on her shoes. He asks her what she's doing. She says she's moving out, and Kanata replies that she shouldn't, it's dangerous to go out this late at night. She glares back at him, and he sighs and says that fine, if she dislikes this that much, he'll go out. Miyu exclaims that she's the one who's leaving; it's his house! He tells her she's loud, and opens the door. She pulls his arm, telling him to hold on. When the door opens, a bright flash of pink light blinds them, then zaps into the house. They run after it, and open the door to the room where it landed. The light has formed itself into a neat, miniature little spaceship! As it starts to open, Kanata spreads out his arm in front of Miyu, telling her not to go near it, as they watch...
[ Eyecatch: SD Miyu sitting on a flat star and smiling, with the logo of Daa! Daa! Daa! over her head. The star then dumps her off. ]
As it opens, they hear a baby's giggling. Lo and behold, there is an adorable little blond baby sitting there, wearing baby clothes and a bib with a little cat on it. Miyu and Kanata stare at it disbelievingly, and he asks her what she thinks that is. She replies that it's a baby in a UFO... he thought so too. It then starts flying towards them! The baby flies over and grabs his cheek, pinching it. She asks Kanata what's with him, and then the baby notices Miyu and flies toward her, pulling her hair. Kanata asks Miyu what's with HER, and Miyu tells the baby not to pull. The baby stops. Surprised, she thinks that it possibly understood what she said. It says, "Kyaa!" and she thinks what's with 'kyaa'? It flies off and starts getting into the objects in the room. Kanata is trying to get the baby to stop, and while he's talking to the baby, Miyu is watching. She says for Kanata to wait - maybe the baby's hungry. He's sucking on one of his fingers.
In the kitchen, Kanata is wondering if he has anything for the baby. Putting a carton of milk with a straw in it on the counter, he says that all they have is milk, but that he heated it up. Miyu asks him what he's thinking, but the baby flies over and sits down on the counter, and starts slurping milk through the straw. Miyu exclaims that it's so cute, while Kanata says he can't believe it - an alien baby drinking milk in his house. Miyu wonders what he's doing there, and Kanata replies he doesn't know, but does she think the baby will eat this? He holds up a bag of potato chips. ^_~ Miyu yells at him that he doesn't even have TEETH; no way could the baby eat that! He tells her to hold on a second. After the baby is done drinking, he says that maybe she should call her mom; doesn't she work for NASA? Miyu says that's a good idea, so she'll go call her now. As Miyu and Kanata start walking off, the baby grabs their sleeves. As they turn to look at the baby, he says in an adorable voice, "Mama! Papa!" Miyu and Kanata repeat it, and the baby agrees happily! The scene changes to above the shrine, where you hear Miyu and Kanata's voices yell, "WHY?"
Miyu says, "How the heck did I end up as his mother?" while Kanata says that he's only in 8th grade; no WAY is he this baby's father. The baby is confused. Miyu and Kanata talk very quickly and desperately at the same time; they say different words, but they both basically say, "Look carefully, I'm not your mama/papa; see, stranger, see?" The baby repeats, "Papa, Mama!" Miyu and Kanata's heads hang low with gloom, then they spring back up. Kanata says that they're sorry, but they're not his parents! Miyu asks the baby if he knows where his real parents are? The baby happily points at Miyu and Kanata. In a mumbled, depressed voice, he tells Miyu to call her mom now.
Miyu is trying to talk to her mom, but she's completely ignoring Miyu. Her mom says that guess what? Her mom is watching an alien dissection video! Top NASA secret, she says. Miyu freaks out. Her mom continues, saying that now she wants to dissect an alien herself! What does Miyu want, by the way? Miyu nervously replies that there's nothing she wants, and hangs up, telling her in a hurry to keep up the good work. [She calls her mom 'okaa-sama' in her hurry to hang up.] Surrounded by gloom, she tells Kanata that if she tells her mom, she might dissect the baby! She starts talking to herself, saying, "Geez, what do I do now... oh yeah, I forgot to ask about a new place to move..."
The baby flies happily over to her, playing with her hair. Looking at the baby's bib, she says that she was wondering for a while what this was, and plucks off the cat thing from the bib. The baby says 'Wanya', and she and Kanata poke it for a bit, and he says that it's awfully soft. She says it's really fluffy, and she squashes it a bit. It sneezes, and suddenly expands and grows large. Sitting on the floor is a very large cat-like thing. It looks very dazed, and then exclaims, "Ruu-chama!" [Note: The translators put a note here saying that it seems like the '-chama' is a combo of '-chan' and '-sama'.] The baby flies over to Wanya, who is tearfully repeating "Ruu". Holding up the baby, Wanya is cuddling 'Ruu'. Miyu remarks to Kanata that the baby's name must be Ruu. Wanya then asks (he's talking to himself) if Ruu-chama's spaceship is ok? And flies off (his tail is like a propeller).
Wanya is holding Ruu and flying through the hallways, to the room where the spaceship is. Miyu and Kanata (and Ruu, flying above) watch as Wanya types things into the computer. Wanya, talking mostly to himself, says that the computer tells him that there's no toxic substance in the atomosphere, the Universal Translator is good, the Defense is good, the navigation.. is broken! While he's talking to himself, Kanata is repeating 'hey!' over and over, and finally puts a hand on Wanya's head. He asks Wanya who they are. Wanya apologizes, and introduces the baby as Ruu-sama, and himself as Wanya, the Sitter-Pet. Miyu repeats 'Sitter-Pet' (in English), and Wanya says that they don't know what that is? There aren't any on Earth? He says to listen carefully, and he'll explain.
Kanata and Miyu sit down, as Wanya says that the 'sitter' in 'Sitter-Pet' is from 'babysitter' (in English); in other words, he's a pet who babysits. They're very good babysitters, and starts babbling on about his various qualifications. Miyu asks Kanata what a 'babysitter' is, and Kanata tells her that Wanya is using English for Komori. Kanata then asks Wanya why he barged in on his house. Wanya explains that himself and Ruu-chama are from a planet called Otto, which is twelve billion of light years away. He explains that he was taking a walk with Ruu-chama this morning...
Wanya is pushing the spaceship as he flies, which seems to actually be a sort of flying carriage. Wanya tells Ruu that it's such good weather today. A flying mini-spaceship (just a large megaphone flying around, really) flies to them, and starts yelling that today is: "Partially cloud, depending on location, possible chance of a dimensional warp." Wanya says that he hopes there won't be any, and the megaphone yells back that it's coming, and looks like a very powerful one... and a little, mini warp hole pops up behind it and sucks the screaming megaphone in. Wanya watches with streaks of fright on his face, and flies in the opposite direction, and tells Ruu that they should hurry home, but not to worry - he's a very capable Sitter-Pet. He flies directly into a huge warp hole, way bigger than the one that sucked the megaphone in. Trying to fly away from it, the pull of the warp is too strong (Ruu is very happy) and Wanya says this is very bad that they got sucked in, and then pops into the mini-form they first saw. The spaceship flies off.
Back in the present, Wanya finishes, saying that when they woke up, there were here. Patting the spaceship, Wanya says (with streaks of gloom) that the SOS beacon on it is active, so in a year or two, with Planet Otto's technology, they should get here. Kanata asks if they can't just go home themselves, and Wanya says that no, not with broken navigation. Wanya looks over at Kanata, and decides that "it" doesn't look like he can be convinced easily. Zeroing in on Miyu, he thinks to himself that he should plead to her... Groveling to her, he says, "Please, until the help arrives, please let us stay, Oku-san [Mistress of the home]!" Miyu asks him who's an Oku-san? Wanya backs away, and says she's not the oku-san? She says she isn't. He said he made a huge mistake; that, and about him and Ruu-chama. Miyu says that, well, she was about to leave, and it seems like Kanata wanted her to leave too... Wanya whines that she's going to ignore them; why are Earthlings are so cruel? Miyu says it's not her house; she has no right to say anything - Kanata does.
Ruu flies up between Kanata and Miyu, tugging on their sleeves, happily saying, "Mama, Papa!" She and Kanata look at each other. Miyu realizes that it will be sad for Ruu to live in this unfamiliar world without his mama and papa. She thinks that she knows better than anyone else, with such busy parents as her own. Speaking outloud, she says nervously, "Umm.. I.. want to stay with them here." Kanata replies that whatever the case, he should stop arguing with her for now. He puts a frustrated hand on his head, and says, "After them coming this far, we can't just let them alone like this. Besides, with two people to take care of them, it'll turn out okay." Looking back on Wanya, he says that is his decision. Wanya starts groveling to them, bowing and repeating 'Thank you so much!' Wanya then picks up Ruu, and tells him that it all turned out great, flying away. Kanata says that now four people will live here now, and she agrees. Wanya flies back and says that it's good to meet them.
Miyu thinks to herself, "A lot of unbelievable things happened today, but because I'm not alone, it will turn out fine, like Kanata-kun said." Kanata says, "Do you want some tea, Miyu?" Miyu has steam coming from her head, and asks him why he's calling her by her name (without a suffix, implying a close relationship)!? He replies that since they're going to live with each other, it doesn't really matter. She sulks for a second, then stalks off, saying, "Where's the tea, Kanata?" Kanata comments that she sounds upset. Near them is Wanya, who is talking to himself, saying that as the Sitter-Pet, he needs to write in the Baby-diary. [In the background, Miyu says that she doesn't know where everything is. Miyu yells back that she just got here; he needs to tell her everything. Kanata replies that she should just learn. Miyu says that she still doesn't know everything; would he do something?] As they argue, Wanya pulls out what looks like an electronic planner from the spaceship. He punches in: "Sitter-Pet, Wanya's baby diary. Otto date: 3408 C-28. We got sucked into a dimenstion warp that's even rare on Otto. I was worried about what's going to happen to us. We have arrived on the planet Earth, 12 billion light years away from Otto. With help from nice earthlings named Miyu-san and Kanata-san, it looks like we'll have an interesting life here." While he types, Miyu is holding a thermos. Ruu flies over to her, and then Kanata approaches her with two mugs. Wanya adds that everything will work out. Ending music starts as he finishes talking.
